Tool introduction

What this tool does

The Requirements List presents common accessibility needs — step-free entrance, elevator, accessible restroom, accessible parking, wheelchair space, and seating — as checkboxes. When you click "Copy my requirements," the tool formats the checked items as a text list and copies it to your clipboard. You can then paste it into an email, a booking form, a message to a venue, or a note for a caregiver.

Why a clear list helps

Broad requests like "I need an accessible room" can be interpreted differently by different providers. A specific list — "Step-free entrance, elevator, accessible restroom, wheelchair space" — gives the venue exactly the information they need to confirm or deny each item. This reduces misunderstandings, wasted trips, and the stress of arriving somewhere that does not meet your needs.

A conversation starter, not a legal document

The copied list is a communication tool. It does not guarantee that a venue can meet every need, and it does not replace formal booking confirmations or legal accommodations. Use it to start a clear conversation and to keep a written record of what was discussed.

How to use

  1. 01

    Review the needs list

The tool lists six common accessibility needs: Step-free entrance, Elevator, Accessible restroom, Accessible parking, Wheelchair space, and Seating. All are checked by default. Uncheck any that do not apply to you.

  2. 02

    Click "Copy my requirements"

Click the "Copy my requirements" button. The tool formats the checked items as a text list headed "My Accessibility Requirements" and copies it to your clipboard.

  3. 03

Paste the list where you need it

Paste the copied text into an email to a hotel, a booking form, a message to a venue, or a note for a caregiver. The list is plain text, so it works in any medium.

  4. 04

    Add specific details if needed

After pasting, you can add specific details — dates, room numbers, the dimensions of your device, or the name of a contact person. The tool gives you the base list; you can expand it with context that helps the provider.

  5. 05

    Keep a written record

When a provider confirms or denies an item, note the response next to the list. Written confirmation creates a useful record if something changes before your visit.

  6. 06

    Ask follow-up questions

Use the list as a starting point for more detailed questions. For example, if a venue confirms "Accessible restroom," ask about the door width, grab bar positions, turning space, and shower entry. Specific questions produce more useful answers.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool work on all browsers?

The tool uses the browser clipboard API, which works in most modern browsers. If your browser does not support clipboard copying, the tool will display a message saying your list is ready to select and copy manually. You can then select the text and use Ctrl+C / Cmd+C.

What format is the copied list in?

The list is plain text. It starts with "My Accessibility Requirements" followed by a blank line, then each checked item on its own line prefixed with a checkbox symbol (☐). It works in emails, messages, documents, and forms.

Can I edit the list after copying?

Yes. After pasting the list, you can edit it freely — add items, remove items, add specific details, or rephrase. The tool provides a starting point; you can customise it for each situation.

Can I add custom requirements?

The current version includes six common needs. If you have requirements not listed (e.g., visual fire alarm, service animal accommodation, specific bed height), you can add them manually after pasting the list. This keeps the tool simple while allowing flexibility.

Is this a legal or formal accommodation request?

No. The tool is a communication aid. It helps you express your needs clearly. It does not create a legal right or guarantee. For formal accommodation requests under disability law, consult the relevant legal framework and the venue’s official accommodation process.

Is my list stored anywhere?

No. The list is generated in your browser and copied to your clipboard. It is not uploaded to any server. If you close the page, the checklist state is lost, though the copied text remains in your clipboard until you copy something else.
